Wii Gaming

For those who don't know what a Wii is... You are truely missing out! Check their site out http://wii.com
Wii, as they say, is a new movement in home entertainment gaming, offering motion controlled gaming for people of all ages and is especially fun for family game nights!
As fun as they are, Wii also is used in rehabilitation (wiihabilitation) as a motivational tool to improve sequencing, reaction times, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, memory, muscle strength, balance, numeracal skills and more!

1. Why do you think Wii gaming has appeal to people who are not traditionally video game players?
As shown in the clip, Wii is an alternative to the regular exercises taught by physios and occupational therapists post sergery. Its something the participants in this clip say is fun and exciting, allowing them to engage in sports they once played but can no longer like bowling, golf, tennis and even boxing! Its not a replacement for the usual therapy but its something extra to add on top of it for a little bit of fun therapy!

2. What is the relevance to OT?
Wii provides a great alternative to regular therapy interventions that can be meaningful and fun for clients. Wii can help improve physical abilities as well as cognitive (stated above) with the wide variety in games available like Wii sports. As Wii is something people will generally enjoy, it will motivate them to participate and engage in their therapy, working towards a speedy recovery.

Video Production: Tutorial Four and five

Youtube is another service offered and owned by google, like Blogger.com. However Youtube is predominently an online community that lets users upload and view video files from all over the world. You are able to view videos without having a youtube account but by having one you can host your own video blog, rate others videos, comment on them and subscribe to your favourite producers. Fame is also found on youtube like the New Zealand fellow, Christiaan Van Vuuren, that caught Campbell Lives attention and has his video postings shown on the program. Check this one out!

If you are interested in making your own short film it is useful to use a storyboard.
What is a storyboard? It's a series of simple drawings on paper of the ideas of shots for your film.
So we drew up the ideas for our film, nominated our actors and discussed what the aim of our film was. This was helpful in my group making the short film as we were able to get straight onto filming knowing exactly what we wanted to film and at what angle the camera was to be on - No mucking about!
Having small shots of around 10 seconds each made it easy to put the film together and also made the film more interesting as each 10 second shot was filmed on a different angle. We haven't shown peoples faces in our short film and there are no vocals - only music. This ensured confidentiality for our actors.

At first this seemed hard as how were we to portray the mood of our actors and get the story across to our audiance? However we used movement, camera angles, props and music to portray our message.

Here is our short film!
